As hard as it is to say, the summer is coming to a close. For many, that means it’s time to get back in the classroom. For others, it means rerouting the morning commute to avoid the school bus. No matter when you graduated, you can still get into the “Back to School” spirit with these tips.

Clean Out Your Old Assignments – If you already made the grade, it’s time to move on to the next assignment. Archive old work that you won’t need to access to regularly. Keeping your digital workspace clean and orderly will help you stay focused and productive.

Personalize Your Desk Space – Just like your high school locker, your desk at the office is your haven. Add some personal affects to showcase your hobbies or interests. Anything that makes you feel comfortable, but won’t distract or offend others. Photos of loved ones work well to help you stay calm and motivated.

Stock Up On School Supplies – Although a Trapper Keeper probably won’t top your back to school list this year, it’s still important to make sure you have the proper tools to stay productive at the office. Printer paper, manila folders, pens, pencils, staples, etc. Easy to take for granted, but hard to do without. Office and school suppliers run promotions this time of year, so stock up.

Do Your Summer Reading – Even if you haven’t gotten around to it by the first day of class, make an effort to set aside time to read. You don’t have to choose business literature to make an impact on your performance at work. Even if you choose to read a novel for pleasure, you’re still improving brain function, increasing vocabulary, and relieving stress.
