As we saw last week, photos can go viral almost instantly (Team White & Gold!). Faster than text or even video content. Every brand wants to recreate their own “What Color Is This Dress” phenomenon, but what most don’t realize is that it’s not as simple as snapping a picture and posting it on Facebook. Bringing your brand to social media means adapting to the forum, be it Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.

Logo Modification – Square profile pictures rule social media. Almost every platform uses one. Create a square treatment for your logo to make the best use of the space.

Social Specific Content – Gorgeous web graphics and advertisements do not always translate to social media. Make sure the content fits the platform. For instance, if you’re posting a photo on Instagram, make sure it was taken on a mobile phone.

Designing with Facebook in Mind – Many social media platforms will automatically generate a preview for shared links. Account for this when you are choosing images and inputting metadata for a specific webpage.
