We’ve all been in the situation where we sit down for a little creative brainstorming session and come up with the BEST.IDEA.EVER. on the first try. Oh, wait. That hardly ever happens. The problem is that we get too attached to our first idea, when in reality the creative process should generate lots of concepts in rough form in a short amount of time. It may seem counterintuitive, but focus on quantity, not quality. Be prepared to throw away a lot of ideas (or save them for later on down the road) before making a final selection. Even better: take a break in between brainstorms to let the ideas sink in a little bit before starting up again. A little time away from the desk might just provide a fresh perspective on the work.
