Believe it or not, “dadada” was Mark Zuckerberg’s password choice for a few of his accounts. Mark’s Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest accounts were recently hacked.

While we all love a little scandal, let’s be mature and take this as a lesson. Think for a moment- if your accounts were hacked today, what would you regret? What would the consequences be? Would you think- I wish I had taken that Tuesday tip when I read it?

Fortunately, these hackers had a heart and tweeted “Hey @finkd (Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter handle) we got access to your Twitter & Instagram & Pinterest, we are just testing your security, please dm (direct message) us.” How did this security breach happen? A list was recently published with stolen usernames and passwords from 2012 LinkedIn accounts, and the father of Facebook was on there. Not only was his information on there, but he reused that password on other accounts.

We’ve heard it before, but maybe another time will help – STOP reusing your passwords! How could this have been prevented? A strong password and different passwords for various accounts would significantly help. If this can happen to Mark, let’s all take a lesson and change our passwords right away; better safe than sorry! About a minute of your time now can save you hours of headaches later. I know I’m going to change my passwords right after I finish this as I’m way overdue. I would be a tip writing hypocrite if I didn’t heed my own advice!
