Marketing and branding for new mass transit ride sharing service
The launch and management of an on-demand service that picks you up and drops you off at your exact location
The Norwalk Transit District came to Silver Creative to help them launch a new concept- an Uber-like, on-demand service for their shuttle buses with an app-driven technology. The service would provide door to door pick up and drop off within specific zones of Norwalk. Silver Creative handled the naming and brand development as well as the entire marketing campaign and community outreach. There was a lot of education needed as the Norwalk community was not primed to use mass transit. Our marketing strategy revolved around making the destinations attractive and inviting and developing promotional deals with local vendors. We immediately became a part of the community and people adopted the service quickly.
We came up with unique ways to spread the word including a street team that handed out flyers and frisbees, custom branded coasters distributed at local restaurants along with decals for their windows, Metro North rail platform ads, Spotify ads and more. Our website featured a map of the various zones that the bus traveled to.
We are so proud to have won two awards for the project including the 1st Place Grand Award from the nationally-recognized American Public Transportation Association. The recognition was for the best marketing and communications to highlight transit needs and use. The entire campaign was a success having exceeded ridership expectations, app downloads and other key metrics.
